I was born in Tokyo, Japan. When I was a child, I sang in the Hibari Choir, where I participated in many television programs and performances, such as Fuji TV 8:00 Gathering (the most popular variety show at that time), NHK’s Noon Symphony Orchestra, etc. Participated in performances by Akiko Yano (singer, piano, composer, ex-wife of Ryuichi Sakamoto), composition by world-famous modern classical music composer Toru Takemitu MOON new score release concert, I played percussion at Asahi Life Hall in Tokyo. At the same time, I learned drums from Osamu Minagawa, the Guinness record holder.

I started to really learn music when I went to the Berklee College of Music. The first teacher was Mr. Ian Froman. And I started to feel relax when I studied under the second teacher Mr. Jhon Hazilla and Art Blakey jazz. Messengers 2nd drummer Mr Jhon Ramsay, and a teacher, Mr Skip Hedden. I came to Beijing in 1993, the first International Jazz Music Festival in Beijing, I have participated in Mr. Liu Yuan’s band jz jazz fest, ninegate jazz fest, Strawberry, and Xia Jia Trio. I used to participate in one of the four major jazz fests in South Africa, Cape Town jazz fest, Aoyama jazz summit, Kanazawa jazz street, and other large-scale performances.

The artist I have collaborated with is Liu Yuan; Kong Hongwei; Xia Jia; Ronin; Liu Yue; Teodross Avery Christian Howos Antonio Hart; Maggie Cheung; Li Zongsheng.

I’m the dean of percussion department of Beijing contemporary music academy, from 2000 to the present time.
